Yesterday, during the opening keynote speech at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, CEO Steve Jobs revealed the iPhone 3G to an eager audience who had been anticipating this release.
“Twice as fast. Half the price” is the slogan for the new 3G, and that it is. The iPhone 3G will come with a 3.5-inch screen and have better battery life, with talk time of five hours, stand-by time of 300 hours, six hours of high-speed browsing time, 20 hours of audio and seven hours of video. Hot damn! Jobs ain’t no dummy. He was quick to realize that quicker data downloads and lower prices are key to increasing purchases of iPhones worldwide. Be first to comment this article |

Like laying a raw T-bone in front of a caged German Shepard, hip hop fans around the world have been taunted by the promise of an upcoming Lil Wayne album only to hear that the release is constantly pushed back. The wait is over: it’s feeding time. Be first to comment this article |

Most youth prevention programs do not concern themselves with recruiting popular young people. They try to recruit everyone because their goal is to prevent everyone from engaging in risky behaviors regardless of whether someone is popular or not. This makes total sense. However, approaching the task of positively influencing any and all young people does not necessarily mean recruiting everyone. Be first to comment this article |

It wasn’t too long ago that parents everywhere were condemning the makers of games like Grand Theft Auto, saying that violence in video games isn’t necessary and providing the perfect forum for such timeless age-induced quotes as: “when I was a kid,” “back in my day,” and “that’s the problem with kids today.” Be first to comment this article |

Drinkin on some purple got me feelin mello, Some like promethazine some like the yellow -Project Pat
Lean, purple drank, that purple stuff, purp, texas oil, muddy cup, sizzurp. Call it what you will. Southern hip hop culture calls it a lot, but it’s all the same thing, a purple swirl of codeine boosted cough syrup mixed with Sprite and served in a styrofoam cup. Sometimes there is vodka. Sometimes there is gin. Sometimes there is a dissolving jolly rancher. But there is always prescription strength cough medicine, which can lead to a slow spin warbling of the senses, painful addiction, and possibly death. Be first to comment this article |

On April 5th the rural town of Abingdon, Virginia was rocked by the Y Street training. Youth even came from the neighboring state of Tennessee to join in. Trainers Chris Basler and I broke pass the bias barriers with icebreakers and team buildings for opening sessions, which provided a moment for youth to step out of the comfort zone and step into the bigger picture of advocacy. To be honest, being a minority in such a rural town did have me thinking about racial tension, and teens not being as open as most urban youth would. My reservations were overwhelmingly overturned. When I was growing up, I had the ‘benefit’ of having an older cousin. Which just meant that I had a loosely related older person to play tricks on me and my siblings and I never really liked when we had to go play with THAT set of cousins. Anyway, back to the ‘benefit’ part. Like most families with a few kids, we didn’t exactly have cash bursting out of walls. So, I (undoubtedly like so many others) became the recipient of many hand-me-downs... Be first to comment this article |
